I’ve connected with the best of the best, so being awestruck isn’t an emotion that I normally have. I just got off stage, riding the wave of delivering a presentation in one of the highest calibur speaking lineups of my career. When I saw this man for the first time in 16 years, I gave him a hug. Couldn’t even help it. During my early years of separating from the military, it was confusing for me. The military came so easy for me. As long as you follow the rules. Take charge, and stay out of trouble and you’re all set. As a civilian, I bought a house in my early 20s and life was moving so fast.
I came to his office and he helped me straighten things out and helped me win a $5,000 grant for IT training, which opened some of the doors for me, which I walked through to arrive to this point in time.
The Creator has blessed me to be in an incredible position of leadership to help others and I’m proud to say that this gentleman and I have worked out a partnership with his agency, The Department of Labor, and my organization that will benefit thousands of military Veterans with training, jobs, and entrepreneurial support.
The future is bright, Maryland. Treat people right and nurture your relationships. Doors will open.
