The NAGA North American Grappling Championships attracts hundreds of competitors each vying for a top 3 placement in their respective divisions. Held in West Orange, New Jersey, it is one of the premier tournament exhibitions for the North American Grappling Association.
I competed in the event with the hopes of improving my standing in the National rankings that NAGA tracks and produces. After a hard fought day, I emerged as a Silver Medalist after facing an incredibly tough opponent in the finals of the tournament.
Competing against unknown competitors requires focus, discipline, and overcoming fear to step onto the mats and do your very best.
The North American Grappling Association (NAGA) rankings have been updated and have provided me with some favorable news.
I’m currently ranked #15 in the United States, #1 in the state of Maryland, and #10 in the Mid-Atlantic for my age group (30-39) in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in 2013.
This provides me with incredible incentive to continue to improve my rankings and validation that the hard work and countless hours are paying off.
Thank you to my coaches and teammates for helping me reach this plateau.
My target is to achieve top 5 in the nation by the close of 2013. I’ll keep you posted on the progress.
